Wardrobe

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

2/28/2006

Talked with Chad for a couple hours, he had a lot of notes on the script. I think I am going to ask my dad to design the wardrobe. He’s a 20-year veteran in wardrobe and has worked on everything from Terminator 2 to Gettysburg. He knows his stuff so I think he’d be perfect for designing the style and look of the wardrobe for the film.

Poster Tag Lines

Friday, February 24th, 2006

2/24/2006

I worked on tag lines for the poster and came up with four that I liked. I sent out the lines to the key players involved in the film and asked for their opinions as well as any suggestions that they might have. Watched For A Few Dollars More.

Pre-production Posters

2/22/2006

I received the “pre-production” posters from Chris today and they are awesome. He’s been working on them for a couple months and just couldn’t seem to get it right. It was my fault because I didn’t know exactly what I wanted… but a couple days ago it finally hit me. This movie is going to be rooted in the spaghetti westerns of the late 60s and early 70s so why not have the poster look the same. Well, I passed on that info to Chris and he came back with four kick ass posters. Just goes to show that the only way to get what you want is to know what you want.

Another Draft

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

2/21/2006

I finished another draft of the script. I’d been having some story problems in the third act and I cleaned those up. I am going to read over the script tomorrow and take extensive notes for the next draft. I’ll be looking for themes, character strengths and weaknesses, story problems, and I’ll write down any ideas that come to mind while reading through.

Progress

2/20/2006

I made some progress with the third act. It seems to be the roughest part of the script. My hope is to have another draft completed by the weeks end (with the story being pretty solid) and then I can begin really focusing on the structure.

Business Plan

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

2/19/2006

Spent two hours on the phone this morning with Fagan talking about everything from the Cowboy Smoke website to this months calendar to the investors package. We spent the majority of our time talking about the business plan. I feel that it’s in a good place right now so I am going to focus my attention on the script this coming week. We decided to shoot for the week after Saint Patrick’s Day for the beginning of our Investors push. I began working on the second rough draft.

First Rough Draft

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

2/3/2006

Fagan called me this morning raving about the rough draft. I tried to explain that there were still some story problems and a few of the ideas were not fully developed… but finally, after me apologizing for thirty minutes, he stopped me and said, I don’t think you realize how good this is, we don’t have much more work to do. That was a pretty awesome feeling. He’s very excited and I’m happy to see that he liked it although I am a little cautious because I don’t always know when people are just trying make me feel good. So far so good though.

With that vote of confidence I decided to email the first official rough draft Mike, Chad, and Matt. They have been foaming at the mouth for something, anything and I figured it was time to give them a little taste.

Location Scouting Begins

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

2/1/2006

I am trying to get the first, real rough draft finished by this Friday. I am heading down to Victoria to begin location scouting and want Fagan to have a clear idea of the story.
